Excitement is in the air as Expo 2024 Dubai is slowly, but surely, on its way.
The event is going to be held in October 2024 in Dubai, but that hasn’t stopped enthusiasts make preparations for their trip.
The event is highly anticipated and will go down as the largest ever in its category, and possibly even further than that. But why all the excitement? What could possibly be that good that people are buying tickets in January? Well, that’s why we’re here to tell you all about it. So sit back, grab a drink, and enjoy.
Why All the Fuss?
Essentially, this is a world event where
hundreds of countries will take part in it. The host of the event, UAE, is the latest organizer, with them beating off Brazil, Russia, and Turkey. Going back in history, London was the host of the first-ever such event in 1851. Since then, a lot has happened.
During these events, people from all over the world share their innovations and creations with the rest of the world. For example, during the 1876 expo, the telephone was showcased. The first-ever humanoid robot was showcased during the 2005 Nagoya expo, and so on.
UAE promised to astonish the world after it got the bid for the 2024 expo. We aren’t long off from October, and promises are slowly being realized.
Who Is Taking Part?
As of currently, as much as 190 attendees are confirmed for Expo 2024. While most are state-funded, there are a couple of exclusions. These exclusions are mostly businesses and educational institutions.
But this isn’t just an ordinary event. It will be absolutely HUGE. The US has said it will spend as much as $65 million on its pavilion. Many Western countries will also take part in showcasing their creations and innovations, such as the UK, Germany, Canada, etc.
But, in the middle of it all, will be the United Arab Emirates. It is even said that Saudi Arabia has provided funds to have a pavilion the size of two football fields! Yes, you heard that right! Two football fields, just imagine the size!
What Is There to See?
We failed to mention a very important thing. The expo will last for 173 days! There will be more than 80 days of entertainment provided, with most of the performers being musicians and comedians.
Other events include cultural experiences, poetry readings, even fashion runways! Education will also be available to the public, as many top academies around the world will take part in engaging conversations with the public.
But it would be foolish to think that’s all of it. There will even be entertainment events in the form of extreme sports, robot workshops, and even under the sea walks! It’s safe to say that there will be a lot going on in those 173 days.
How to Get There?
Officials have confirmed that the location of the expo will be a 40 minutes ride from Downtown Dubai.
There are multiple ways to get there, however. The city is working on a direct metro line to the expo, with the metro being capable of carrying more than 40,000 passengers every single hour. You can also get there by car and even luxurious limo service.
Limo services will be the means of transportation for many people, with a couple of companies already prepping their fleets for the events. To schedule for a luxurious limo ride to Expo 2024, make sure to visit tlt.ae/luxury-limo-service-expo2020-dubai/.
Where is the Event?
Expo 2024 is located in the southern districts of Dubai. The closest airport to the event is Al Maktoum International Airport and it is predicted that most of the traffic will be on it. Authorities are also working on upgrading the capacity of the airport and many major runways. The entire area of the expo will be a whopping 4,40 sqkm.
When Will the Event Happen?
If the name didn’t give it away already, and we already mentioned it at the start, Expo 2024 Dubai will be held on October 20, 2024. The event will last all the way until April 10th, the next year, and most of the shows and entertainments will happen between 10 AM and 1 AM. During weekends, the closing hour of each day will be 2 AM.
Tickets, however, aren’t available to the general public just yet. While some of the richest people almost definitely have a ticket already, the tickets for the general public go on sale starting April 20th. The price for each ticket will be DHS 120, or $33.
How Does This Impact the UAE?
The event itself has been met with a lot of excitement for both the general population and the ruling class. The event itself has opened more than 110,000 new jobs, with most of them coming in the construction sector. The real estate market has seen also seen a surge in popularity and the UAE is even opening a District 2024 just for the purpose of the event! Not only will this district house most of the attendees and visitors, but it will also leave a legacy behind as the world’s largest event took place.
The UAE will experience visitors in the tens of millions during the 173 days. It is predicted that up to 80% of the total visitors will be foreigners.
They Are Looking for Volunteers
Official authorities are calling for all the help they can get. The event organizers are said to be asking for more than the originally predicted 30,000 people. These will be the people that the event will rely on to do everything from welcoming guests to managing specific parts of the event itself. You can apply to be a volunteer at volunteers.ae/expo2020 official website and you can apply for more than 45 different roles.
Simply said, no one knows what to expect from the event. 173 days sounds like a lot for an event showcasing innovations. But one thing is certain; Expo 2024 Dubai will be the biggest event in history! No doubt about it.
