Buy a new one
You might not like this piece of information, but the truth is, the simplest way to make your wig look as best as possible is to just buy a new one. Of course, this does not mean that you should purchase one every other week or every new month, but you should replace it at regular intervals. The reality is that the color will start to wash away and the synthetic material will start to deteriorate over some time. There is no way to avoid this from happening. This is just how the polymer works.
However, there is something you could do to make it last longer. If you were to purchase multiple wigs and wear them alternately, there is a possibility that all of them will last much longer. Think of this as wearing shoes. If you were to wear just one pair of shoes for the entire year, they will start to crack and tear after that just one year. But, if you were to have two or three pairs and wear them alternately, the material of the shoe will able to rest and return to its normal state.
In other words, if you truly want your wig to look as natural as possible, I recommend either buying a new one or buying multiple to maintain the original look.
Color the roots
Have you ever seen someone with just one color of hair? Well, if you have, they were probably wearing something on their head, because naturally, it is never in just one color. If it is black for example, it is a mix of gray, black, white, and maybe even a bit of brown. So, if you were to choose a perm that is just one simple color, it will be obvious to many people that it is fake.
Assuming that you do not want to leave this impression to the people around you, I would recommend either coloring the roots of the perm you already own or just buy a new one that has its roots colored.
